She also likes celebrating holidays and going to hear music or watch baseball. She lives in the Chesterland area and prefers programs that do not have too many people or are too noisy due to the stress that causes. She can be shy and enjoys observing but will communicate in short phrases. She would need some help with pedestrian skills and making purchases in the community.

 A family in Chardon is seeking a provider to spend time in their home with their 18-year-old son. This individual loves playing Beyblades and video games (especially Minecraft). He can be serious and get really focused on an activity but also knows how to laugh and enjoy himself. He always knows what he wants to do; he has autism and strives on a structured schedule. Other interests include anime and monsters. He may be open to playing board games. The provider will be paid through the Family and Home Based Supports program and will be at a waiver-equivalent rate. Frequency of services will be discussed once an initial meeting is held.

Schedule will vary based on school calendar, no school, means staff can work day shift, with school then staff is split between before and after. He can get physical when trying to express himself or communicating. He has PICA, he elopes and likes to climb to high places. He has physical aggression and self-injurious behaviors. He needs to be spoken to in a calm voice, encourage use of supportive technology, redirection, engagement in fun activities (such as jumping on the trampoline, playing outside or going on car rides). He needs complete assistance for taking medications and help with scheduling and taken to appointments. He requires assistance to complete hygiene routine and needs support during bathing and to be close by if help is needed while toileting. It is important for staff to be close by at all times, offer redirection, be consistent with his routine, ensure reminders and support are given and help with managing appointments and medication. Mom prefers a provider that is athletic as he is young and likes to be active outside.  She wants staff to jump and play with him. He can be affectionate and has the best laugh. He is looking for that one person that can just be his friend to adventure with and watch his videos with him.

    • 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. schedule until I’m enrolled in a weekday day or employment program
    • Once enrolled, weekday support would shift to 2:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
    • Weekend hours will remain 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.

The individual is fed through a gastronomy tube and uses various specialized home equipment, including adaptive seating devices and a gait trainer. They require full assistance with all daily activities. The family is looking for someone who enjoys working with children and is either experienced or willing to learn how to support gastronomy feedings.
The ideal provider will not only offer care but also build a meaningful connection with the individual. Services are being sought on weekday morning for 4-6 hours. The individual is supported through a Level One waiver. Please note that the family has pet cats.
