Family Home Based Support Service (FHBS)

The FHBS program is administered by The Metzenbaum Foundation with grant money provided by Geauga DD. FHBS supports families caring for their child or relative in their home.

Services/Items eligible for funding:

• Respite
• Disability based dietary assistance
• Disability based personal care goods
• Disability based specialized equipment
• Transportation support
• Recreation/camp programs

Grant Requests:

The Metzenbaum Foundation awards grants to both individuals and groups. Grants for individuals must be sponsored by an employee of Geauga DD. Grants to groups must be focused on serving groups of individuals who are part of the DD system.

Geauga DD works closely with MLCRI in order to locate, purchase and maintain houses for individuals with developmental disabilities who are on Supported Living and IO Waivers. Currently, MLCRI maintains 22 single family homes throughout Geauga County, serving nearly 80 individuals with developmental disabilities. The houses are purchased with funds from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (ODoDD) and Geauga DD.
